Virgin of Guadalupe--The Seed Blessing

$65.00

© Sue Ellen Parkinson

Original – SOLD

13” x 19” Prints • $65

Description:

This image just seemed to want to be painted. I had no model. My husband and I had recently returned from Guatemala and had seen an Easter procession with a statue of Jesus decorated with corn in his crown—so I gave Guadalupe a corn headdress as well. For the Maya the four colors of corn represent the four races, gathered together, I like to think they represent Peace. The luminous corn kernel above her praying hands represents my hope for the future.
